The Ugly Sweater

When I saw that Karly from Paisley Roots was having an ugly sweater contest, I knew I needed to play along. What a FUN idea!! So, after some brainstorming, this is what happened. I think it's quite awesome.

I used Peek-a-Boo Pattern Shops, V-Neck Cardigan and color blocked it into three sections on the front using solid red and green cotton lycra and two prints
(riendeer from Girl Charlee a few years ago and penguin from Peek-a-Boo Fabrics last winter.) I used some fun rick racks and topstitched them over the seam for added tackiness.

I added some fun embellishments to a few of the blocks and the back.

The back features a tree using some lovey vintage sequin ribbon I was given and a star cut from glitter canvas. I used the same sequin ribbon and more glitter canvas for some Christmas lights on the top of one side of the cardigan. Another block features a Christmas tree made of buttons. And then my favorite block, the heat transfer vinyl T. Rex wearing a Santa hat. So much awesomeness on one little cardigan!

We paired it with the epic Christmas shirt he requested I make last year using the Classic Oxford. It's a bit small on him, but hidden under the cardigan, it works well. The bow tie I made him for a Suzuki concert he was in last winter. The camo pants were a Christmas gift that I made him using the Jasper Joggers pattern from Gracious Threads. They really complete the look if you ask me. LOL Hey, he stopped playing his new guitar long enough for me to take pictures, if he wanted to wear camo pants, who was I to say no?

I hope you had an awesome Christmas and the New Year is full of opportunity and fun!!
