Layered Look Hooded Tee

I am all about the faux layered look with my son. I love, love, LOVE the look of layers, but my son is always so HOT. So, I love making him single layered shirts that LOOK like he has a couple of layers on. Because in reality, the only time he really wears real layers is for photo shoots or nice events. True. Heck, most of the time at home, I'm happy to just keep a single tee shirt on him! So, enter, the layered LOOK hooded tee!

My nephew has a shirt I adore. It's a tee shirt that has a faux layered look with the doubled sleeves (like I made in this post) and a hood. BUT, it also has a collar, so it looks like he has on two shirts, when in fact, it's a single one. Pretty slick! And I have wanted to do the same style for Thomas for quite some time now.

A Vision to Remember Quilt Tour

Today, I am sharing this sweet little quilt that I made for my part of the Vision to Remember Quilt Tour. 

This was my first ever rag quilt and I love how easy it was to put together! This project can be finished from cutting fabric, to completed quilt in just a few hours if you have sewing experience. Don't fear this if you are beginner! This project is perfect for you! It just may take a little bit longer. But definitely a doable weekend project for a beginner. (A day if you don't have children. ;) )

Naples Dress Tour

It's Kate's turn for a tour! Today, she is sharing her Naples Dress, from Jennuine Designs. Art Gallery Fabrics were so kind and provided the fabric for this project.

I had a lot of fun designing this dress to work with Kate's style. She's pretty simple. She prefers clean lines, no ruffles, no prints, nothing poofy, and nothing frilly. She's 11. And around here, unless for a special event, frilly, ruffly, poofy stuff doesn't fly. Okay, poofy never flies, she prefers drapey. However, Jenn made a pattern FULL of options! So many options! It wasn't hard at all to come up with something that Kate loves! And with the help of this amazing Art Gallery Fabric, I knew it would be great!

Spring Break Pajama Party Tour

Today I'm participating in the Spring Break Pajama Party! The party hosts are Sprouting JubeJube, Lula & Celeste, Made by Jamie and Create 3.5 and WOW did they every put together an epic tour!!! The idea of this tour is to pick a pajama pattern you have had sitting around for a while and sew it up. No more excuses! I've had Oliver + S's Sleepover Pajamas for quite a while now and just knew they were the pattern finally getting tackled.

I found the most perfect of perfect fabrics over at Hawthorne Threads, called Meteor Shower in Midnight. My son is slightly obsessed with space right now and spotting a shooting star is high up on his list of "gotta dos" so I knew this fabric was going to be a win. And boy was it ever!
He LOVES it!!

Love of Legends Tour

Seriously, how cool of an idea is this! When I was invited by CraftingCon and Phat Quarters to be a part of the Love of Legends Blog Tour, I had to join! Myths and legends are so much fun! There is something so innocent in believing in mermaids and fairies. And it's exciting to think that Bigfoot or Nessie may be around the next corner. And the magic of unicorns is definitely something worth believing in! I am a sucker for all of it! So, of course, I couldn't narrow down just ONE legend to feature on my post!!

Knit Pillowcase Tutorial

If you are part of almost any Facebook sewing community, you know that knits are pretty much threatening to take over the sewing world. If you are used to working with woven fabrics, knits can be a bit intimidating. They stretch out, the may not be friendly with a universal needle and the edges of many knits tend to curl up. But, knits tend to be so much more practical when sewing clothing. You don't have to iron them as much and they are really comfortable! Today, I am going to share with you the PERFECT beginner knit project!

That's right! A pillowcase made from knit fabric. You can practice cutting, sewing straight lines and hemming, using a very reasonable amount of fabric and not have to worry about your item fitting in the end! It's perfect!!

And even better, NO SERGER REQUIRED!! Yes! We are sewing this on a regular sewing machine!
