Color Me Fabric

Have you seen the awesome Michael Miller Color Me fabric designed by Hayley Crouse from Mouse House Creations? It's amazing. To continue the amazingness, Hayley is releasing a NEW line that plays into the adult coloring book trend. I was like a kid in a toy store when I was given the opportunity to sew something with it before it hits the shelves later this month! I could not choose which design I wanted to use! I went with the owls on white (officially called What a Hoot) and I knew it would be perfect for making a Divided Basket from Noodlehead.

I had so much fun with this project! I knew I wanted my colors to be bold and vibrant, so I painted my fabric with acrylic paints in a rainbow pallet.

(iphone shot ^^^)

I absolutely LOVE how it turned out!!

It's so bright and cheery!! The front has a pocket. I used another Michael Miller fabric for the bias binding.

And I love the back just as much as the front!!

A close up of a section of the back. The fabric took to blending the paint colors well. I did interface with SF101 as the pattern instructed to. I had no bleeding and the fabric didn't pull. I am THRILLED with the results!!

I love that little pink owl. :)

Such pretty colors! This basket is so cheery! This project was so much fun to work on.

Another close up of the front. I use clothes pins for everything! Am I the only one? I'll use them to hold chip and frozen veggie bags shut, clip a towel around the neck of a baby when I can't find a bib (read; they are all in the wash), securing blanket forts to chairs, stick them to the wall with command strips to hang a rope, hang items from said rope, and even clipping clothes in place during fittings. I don't own a clothes line, so I don't really hand clothes with them.

I don't have many scraps left over from this project at all. But, I do plan to make a key fob and a little coin pouch with what I have left.

Luckily for Thomas, I have some of the previous lines of Color Me fabric sitting on my shelf. He has been asking me to paint on fabric ever since he watched me do this. I have a pillow case planned with this Space Adventures.

Or maybe a tote. See, that's my problem, I can't decide what to do with it! I want to hoard it forever, but I know it deserves to be used and loved by my little boy.

Thank you so much, Hayley for allowing me to create something with your beautiful fabrics!!

I can't wait to order Fish Frenzy! I think it would make a super fun pool bag for this summer!
What would you make with the new line of Color Me Fabrics?
