Monaluna Fabric and Love Notions Presto

Monaluna Fabric and Love Notions Presto

When Gemia from Phat Quarters invited me to be a part of the Monaluna tour, I couldn't wait!! The photos of the fabrics were beautiful and I just KNEW that they would be even more gorgeous in person! I've had the opportunity to sew for Monaluna before and just fell in love with their quality of fabric and the richness of their colors, I was certain this line would be no exception.

I had a hard time narrowing down which fabric I wanted to use! I finally went with Desert Floral in organic cotton lawn. This is my first experience with their organic cotton lawn and it is just amazing to work with!

It presses beautifully and isn't shifty and easily distorted. Even when cut on the bias, it didn't get all wonky.

Soooo, now I had the fabric sorted out, now what to make. Just around the time that we got the shipping notifications for our fabric, Tami at Love Notions told us she was working on another woven top pattern. Things couldn't have lined up better!!! The cotton lawn from Monaluna was perfect for the new Presto Tunic! They had to be paired together!

The front panel of Presto was very easy to assemble with the Monaluna cotton lawn. The fabric pressed into place beautifully and didn't shift around while maneuvering the corners.

It also made beautiful bias tape to finish off the neckline. The pattern also features a collar, but this fabric told me bias binding, with ties, which are not part of the pattern. But I love the feature in the Rhapsody, so I carried it over to Presto.

Presto Tunic is drafted for woven fabrics with nice drape and the cotton lawn was perfect. Bust darts and back darts give this tunic great shape and allow the fabric to take the shape of my body beautifully.

The split hem is a very nice detail that looks really sharp with this cotton lawn! I love that it covers my bottom so I can wear this tunic comfortably with leggings and skinny jeans.

Love the combo of this Monaluna organic cotton lawn fabric and the Presto Tunic

(weird awkward photo, but I liked how the tunic looked lol)

You can find the Journey line at Monaluna and fabric shops now.
Presto from Love Notions is out now and will be on sale through March 10th.

Boys Can Wear Pink Season 4 Day 5

Boys Can Wear Pink Day 5

Today is the final day of the Boys Can Wear Pink tour. I hope you can agree that boys can wear any color out there, even pink. And they look great in it!!! Just like girls can look amazing in blue, boys can look amazing in pink. Everybody should just wear the colors they enjoy!!

Today's looks pretty much cover every single occasion out there! Which is way cool!! Boys can wear pink while doing anything!! Which, is a silly thing to have to say, but it still seems to need to be said, even in 2018. Because while it may be more accepting for boys to wear pink than it was in the past, society still tells us that "pink is a girl's color." This was proven with the a few of blogger's models. As the boys featured in this tour are getting older, it's getting harder for the bloggers to find fabric that their boy accepts because ANY pink instantly means, girls. This tour isn't about forcing our boys to wear pink for our cause, so the bloggers worked hard to find fabrics their kids liked and would wear, not just for the tour, but everyday. In my situation, Thomas actually doesn't even care for the color pink now that he's older. He will tell you it's fine for boys, he just doesn't like it. Which is fine!! He doesn't have to!! (By the way, he really digs purple.) So, it's REALLY hard for me to find stuff he likes for this tour, because I want him to wear his clothes with pride. I can 100% honestly say he LOVES his shirt this year. But when he wore it to school, he came home and declared he would never wear it back. Why? Because he was annoyed with everybody asking him why he was wearing a pink shirt. A kid shouldn't feel like that over a shirt.
Really.

The Bug's Bit proves that pink is great for any occasion!

Paisley Roots used the sweetest panel for her son's shirt.

Sweet Meadow Threads has a really fun unique look that I love!

The Berry Bunch has a Minecraft shirt any boy or girl would go crazy over!!

CKC Patterns is sharing a dressy look for their final day! Their little models big smile is melting my heart!!

Thanks for joining us for another great year of Boys Can Wear Pink!

Boys Can Wear Pink Day 4

Welcome to Thursday, or better known as day FOUR of the Boys Can Wear Pink Tour! Have you been sharing the looks with your kids to see what they think of them? Thomas really enjoys seeing the clothes that people wear, and then asking me to buy the fabric and making him a matching outfit.
