Mabel Madison Valentine's Day Blog Tour

It's officially February and that means that it's time for all the PINK!! And to get my pink fix in today, I'm part of the Mabel Madison Valentine's Day Blog Tour. I'm sharing what I did with some AH-Mazing Stenzo Cats Poplin. Thomas got some wild, new pajamas!
The print is kinda crazy, big, and out there, but it's so FUN!!

I used the largest puppy and kitten at the bottom for one leg of the pajama pants. And the boarder print for the other leg.

A yard was JUST enough to get a pair of size 6 Peek-a-Boo Pajama Party Pants out of. And then I had a couple of good size scraps. So I used one for the sleeve of Peek-a-Boo's Grand Slam and a bit for a pocket.

I upsized the shirt 2 sizes so it's a bit over sized. I think that makes it even a bit more pajama feeling.

If you are wondering what poplin is, it's fabulous. That's probably not enough of a description though, is it? It's a woven fabric. But unlike quilter's cotton, it has a nice drape and doesn't wrinkle as easily. It has a tighter weave to the treads.

Stenzo poplin is very high quality and washes up beautifully. I had little wrinkling coming out of the dryer, the fabric didn't shrink up and there was even little fraying along the cut edge. And zero fading. Stenzo poplin is also wider than most woven cottons, coming in at 58" wide. So, you get more fabric per yard.

More fabric per yard means more fabric to sew with!!

Curious about the other fabrics used for Thomas's shirt? Men's Hanes shirt from Walmart. One of my go tos when I need something local and quick! And, no hemming. ;)

Those puppies!!! So so cute!! You can see a bit of a crease from when he was hugging his leg above, but it's not nearly as wrinkled as quilter's woven would have been. Hemming was so, so easy! The poplin really holds a nice sharp crease when ironed.

Thomas's favorite is this kitten. :) You can find all the beautiful poplin fabrics at Mabel Madison here. After you get your hands on some of this gorgeous stuff, be sure to share what you make over at Mabel Madison Modern Makers group on Facebook!

Hope to see you over there!

  1. I loveeeee what you did with the cats and dogs. I sewed up the knit version but might have to get the poplin too after seeing yours. Also, I have a ton of poplin and no clue why I hadn't thought to make pjs with it.

    Awesome outfit!
